I am Renée, sister of Esther and I have doubted for a long time whether I should tell you Esther’s
story and to start a crowdfunding action. It is not in my nature to ask for help and I prefer to do
everything myself together with my family. However at the moment we need help as the problem
is larger than we can handle.
This is my sister Esther’s story
My name is Esther and I was born in Germany 14 years ago. When my mother was 27 weeks
pregnant I was born in the hospital in Datteln. I was born prematurely and as a result I suffered
brain damage and have a physical disability called cerebral palsy. As a result, I am wheelchair
dependent and have a visual impairment.
In 2015, my mother's kidneys didn't work properly and she had to go to hospital for dialysis.
During that period she was not well and I lived in the Netherlands for a while. My aunt from the
Netherlands visited Recklinghausen every week, which is a 2 hour drive and she went back to
Dronten on Sunday. In 2016, my mother died suddenly in Germany and I was left with my sister
After my mother died, my sister and I became orphans and we were taken care of by people
belonging to our church community. From the moment of my mother's death, my aunt and niece
have done everything they could to get me and my sister to the Netherlands. My aunt had
promised she'd take care of us if anything ever happened to my mother, and she has kept her
From a young age I went to the Netherlands every holiday because it was always nice to spend
time with my family. On February 7, 2017 we were again picked up, but this time not for holidays
but to continue our lives in the Netherlands.
I had to learn a new language and go to another school, make new friends but luckily I have 4
extra brothers and sisters around me who help me with everything. My aunt and uncle became
my mum and dad and they will protect me and take care of me. I still miss my other mother, but
she's in heaven now watching over us.
In our house we had to adjust many things because I'm in a wheelchair. Previously, someone
lifted me up and down the stairs to take a shower or sleep. But in 2019 our house was adapted
and I now have my own bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor where I can be well cared
For hospital visits we have to transport ourselves by car. Except we don't have a modified car
and I need to be lifted into the car. Now that I am 14 years old I am getting bigger and heavier
and it is increasingly difficult to lift me and put me in the car.
My big wish is to be able to sit safely and comfortably in the car, which is only possible if I sit in
my wheelchair in an adapted car in which there is space for my wheel chair .
People/companies that donate 1.000 euros will become members of a special club: "The Club of
1000" and will be allowed to put their logo on the customized car as a thank you!
From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to donate. Even if it's only a small amount, every little bit
helps. And I will be forever grateful. I would also like to ask you if you would share this donation
link with all your friends, family and acquaintances.
